The City of Lahti has a strong position in the environment business and also as an environmental education and research center. A lot of cleantech companies are situated nearby Lahti. Environmental issues are also important for the City of Lahti. The Green City development project has started in the City in the beginning of the year. The main goal of the project is to develop an environmental city.

Domestic and international environment business presents from 12th to 13th of October 2011, when international Trade Fair CleantechExpo will be organized in the Lahti Fair Centre. Top-class global seminars will also be arranged in connection with the CleantechExpo trade fair event to provide insight in the current and future status of the cleantech sector. One of the most important seminars will be the autumn seminar of the Environmental Forum of the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK).

"The objective with Cleantech Finland is making Finland a leading cleantech country. The global cleantech markets are extensive, and there are plenty of parties active in the markets. This is why Finnish cleantech experts should combine their resources. The global cleantech event in Lahti is an important forum for Finnish and global companies. When successfully implemented, the event will promote the Cleantech Finland vision and make Finnish cleantech competence known globally." Finpro’s Programme Director Santtu Hulkkonen carries the responsibility for the Cleantech Finland brand.

"Lahti is the spearhead of the Finnish cleantech cluster, and Lahti has become a major cleantech centre in the course of the past few years. There are hundreds of cleantech companies in the Lahti region. Our objective as a cluster is developing and promoting the growth and export opportunities of cleantech companies. In my opinion, Lahti is an excellent venue for a cleantech sector trade fair event!"

Ms Mari Pantsar-Kallio, the Programme Manager of the Finnish Cleantech Cluster, assists companies in improving their market presence and developing innovations, both in Finland and globally.
